About

In 2007, I graduated with a degree in Fine Art, from Buckinghamshire New University specialising in painting, followed by time spent in consolidating some of the themes explored in my studies. Painting gradually evolved into collage, using mixed media and photo transfer. This more intuitive way of working encouraged risk taking and my compositions became more abstract. A passion for colour was always central to my work and this, combined with the use of form and texture, began to suggest a new creative direction in fine jewellery.

I am inspired by the colours, characteristics, and properties of gemstones. Gazing at, and handling them draws me into a journey by which my pieces gradually acquire a story and personality of their own. Movement, light, and reflection add to the allure of the combination of rough and faceted stones which I use. The process of making a piece of jewellery, for me, is like a conversation with the materials which continues until completion.

Since 2013, I have worked with a professional jeweller, learning the skills needed to bring life to my work.  I aim to combine elements of playfulness with formal design to produce jewellery that will be enjoyed by the wearer.
